What We Collect
The following are examples of some (but not all) items the Guild collects.
- Farm & Rural Life: journals, diaries, letters, bibles, clothing, photographs (up to the present day), farm implements and tools used from 1840’s to early 1900’s on Collin County farms
- Domestic Life: journals, diaries, letters, calendars, cookbooks, clothing, photographs (up to the present day), household objects and furnishings, toys
- Business & Industry: advertising, business records and equipment, photographs and artifacts related to Allen businesses
- Community Activities: schools, churches, post office, library, police department, fire department, maps, transportation, newspaper items, telephone books, community cookbooks
- Cultural & Civic Clubs and Organizations
- Military: military life items, battle-related items, uniforms, medals, official documents
- Railroad and Interurban Artifacts
- Allen Family Histories
Historic Photos
The Allen Heritage Guild is always looking to increase our digital historic photo collection and would appreciate your donation of originals or scanned copies. We can scan your photos for you if you like. For many, parting with family photos is unthinkable, and we understand. We invite you to make an appointment and bring your photos to the Allen Depot to be carefully scanned. If this is not possible, we can arrange to pick up, scan and safely return your photos.
