Barn

This barn was originally constructed in the late 1800’s. The older center section was actually constructed using pegs to hold it together. It was donated to the City of Allen and moved from a location in Anna, Texas that was under development.

The barn was taken apart board by board, moved to Allen and reconstructed in the Heritage Village. It features the “witches cap” roofline and has two interior floors, plus a corn crib and covered outdoor space.

Shelling corn activity

Activities at the Barn during special events such as Fall Fest and our monthly Open House include demonstrations of vintage tools, shelling corn, lasso the calf and toss the ring on the steer.

The addition of the split-rail fence around the barn area has greatly enhanced the events conducted there by creating a corral area for a more realistic barnyard experience. The split-rail fence also provides an increased level of security for our vintage farm implement collection which is currently displayed beside the barn.

A grant from the Collin County Historical Commission helped make the split-rail fence project possible.
